Himalayan Jack-in-the-Pulpit, Himalayan Cobra Lily
This is definitely not your ordinary woodland plant! It grows up to 100 cm tall with a spread of 30 cm and is topped with a swirl of leaves resembling a palm tree. In the spring it produces unusual hooded, cobra-like blooms which are pure green to white with brown stripes. If you are lucky flowers are followed by highly ornamental bright orange-red seed pods in the summer. Plants generally does not go dormant after flowering retaining their interesting foliage all summer.
Best grown in rich, well-drained, sandy soil in dappled shade. Do not plant the tuber too deep. It is best grown when covered by only an inch of soil or less. Please take note: This exotic plant may not be the easiest to grow.
