A bit smaller in size than the common cattail. Sword-like, flat foliage arising from the base of the plant. Set with a thick stalk bearing velvet brown cylindrical flowers that eventually become traditional 'cattails'. Prefers wet soil or shallow water -- in full sun to partial shade.
