Formerly sold as Viola labradorica var. purpurea. Low growing woodland perennial with masses of lavender-blue flowers from mid to late spring. Attractive, purple-tinged, heart-shaped foliage. Makes an excellent fast, growing groundcover. This violet has been mis-identified for many years as the Eastern North american native "Viola labradorica". Prefers average to moist, well-drained soils in full to partial shade. Can spread somewhat aggresively by trailing runners and/or by self-seeding. HEIGHT: 5-10 cm SPREAD: 20-30 cm
