Gorgeous, tough ornamental which is also very hardy. Forms a tall, dense, clump of slightly arching, thin, ribbon-like foliage which is dark green in the spring. As the season progresses the foliage turns purple and becomes almost black in the autumn.
If that isn't enough in late summer it produces lovely silvery, fluffy seed heads which turn deep burgundy-purple. Can be grown in sun to partial shade however for best colour it does need full sun. Once established very tolerant of dry, poor soil conditions. More compact than most Big Bluestem varieties. HEIGHT: 125-150 cm SPREAD: 50-60 cm
