A very adaptable, native shade tree tolerant of a wide variety of soil conditions including dry, poor or even wet soils.  Will develop into a well-branched tree with a spreading canopy.  Mid-green leaves turn bright yellow in the fall.  Interesting bark with corky ridges.  Produces greenish-yellow flowers in the spring which are followed by fleshy yellow fruit which turns deep purple.    Best grown in full sun or partial shade.  Birds like the fruit.    HEIGHT:   15-18 m    SPREAD:  14-16 m
