Joe Pye Weed, Boneset
Zone 4
This Ontario native is smaller in size than most of its relatives. Produces clusters of white flowers tinged with purple in mid-summer. Attractive mid-green foliage and interesting white, hairy flower stems. Blooms are fragrant and very attractive to butterflies and pollinators. Easily grown in sun to partial shade, in average to wet well drained soil. Drought tolerant once established. Cut it back by a third early in the season for a more compact, bushy plant. Spent blooms provide winter interest plus food for birds. HEIGHT: 90-125 cm SPREAD: 60-90 cm
