Coral Bells

Zone 4 - 9

Lovely, gently scalloped, fuzzy leaves which range in colour from red to orange to almost sepia yellow. Amount of sunlight will effect the foliage colour as well as the time of year. Produces light pink flowers on short stalks from May until July. Perfect for containers, the rock garden or front of the border. Best grown in sun to part-shade. Caramel`s parentage is Heuchera villosa (Hairy Alum Root)- It does tolerate heat and humidity better than other varieties although it is more shade loving. The leaves have a hairy, velvet texture. Flowers tend to last longer than other species HEIGHT: 25-30 cm SPREAD: 30-40 cm

General Information

Generally Coral Bells are very easy to grow provided they have reasonably fertile, well-drained soil. These are low maintenance perennials, free from pests and disease, that virtually always look very neat and tidy. Most varieties will begin to lose some of their vigour after 3-4 years and will need to be divided. Tiny, coral bell blooms are very attractive to hummingbirds and they also make a good cut flower. A great perennial for the beginner and the collector.
