Climbing Sweet Pea Vine
Zone 5
Old fashioned, showy climber for fences, trellis or as a sprawling groundcover. Easy to grow in sun to partial shade, in ordinary garden soil. A good perennial for naturalizing. Not far from our home, someone has encouraged masses of Sweet Pea to grow wild in a roadside ditch. Looks great! Lovely carmine, rose, light pink and white pea-like blooms all summer and into the fall. This is a herbaceous perennial which will die back completely to the ground after hard frost.
