This Native variety of Liatris is rarely offered.  Clump-forming plant with tall, upright stalks bearing  large (2.5 cm), fluffy, deep rose-purple tufts. Flowers in late summer to early fall.  It is very attractive to butterflies and  hummingbirds.  Great cut flower.  Best grown in full sun and average to dry, well-drained soil.  Prefers dry, sandy or rocky soils.  Will not tolerate wet sites.  Tolerant of summer heat and humidity.    Drought tolerant once established.   HEIGHT:  60-90 cm   SPREAD: 40-45 cm
