This Canadian native is threatend in Ontario. It is a small to medium tree with spreading wide branches which begin low on the trunk and are covered by large, heart-shaped leaves. Greenish flowers in the spring produce sweet, dark purple-red fruit which is edible by humans and animals. Best grown in a naturalized area where the falling fruit will not be an issue. Easy to grow in sun to partial shade in moist to average soil. HEIGHT: 11-15 m SPREAD: 11-14 m
