Russian Sage
Zone 4 - 9
Sturdy, upright, shrub-like perennial with lovely, aromatic, lacey, silver-gray foliage. Produces masses of bright sky blue flowers held on closely spaced, amethyst calyxes. This closers spacing of the calyxes gives the plant a much fuller flowering appearance than other varieties. Very long flowering from July to October. Perovskia prefers average to dry, well-drained soil in full sun. Drought tolerant and dislikes winter wetness. In fall, spent flower spikes can be pruned off for a tidier appearance. Note: Perovskia should not be pruned too far back until new growth emerges in spring. Once new growth appears, prune back no lower than 30cm. HEIGHT: 60-70 cm SPREAD: 50-60 cm
