Woodland Phlox
Zone 3
This very hardy woodland phlox is native to Ontario. A low growing mat of lance-like foliage is set with masses of fragrant lilac, pink or blue flower clusters in May to June. Forms large colonies over time. Phlox divaricata prefers average to moist, well-drained soils in dappled shade. Provide good air circulation when choosing a location for this species to reduce the potential of powdery mildew. Cut back after flowering to encourage fresh growth and a tidier habit.
