Summer Phlox

Upright, compact phlox with dark green foliage and adorned with pink flowers with a darker raspberry center. Perfect for bouquets, borders and attracting butterflies. Best grown in full sun and moist to average garden soil. Flowers sooner than most varieties of Summer Phlox. Blooms from late spring into summer. HEIGHT: 45-60 cm SPREAD: 35-40 cm
General Information Summer Phlox
Big, bold, and beautiful. Very attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies. Great for cutting. Unfortunately, powdery mildew is frequently a problem. As a preventative measure, plant Phlox in rich humus soil in a spot with good air circulation. Do not over crowd. Avoid overhead watering. Water deeply at the ground level to get the moisture where the roots can actually use it. Mildew is usually a sign that the plant is stressed, ie not getting enough moisture. Some of the newer varieties of Summer Phlox have been bred to be more mildew resistant.
