Rheum x coltorum 'German Wine'

'German Wine' produces dark red, thick stalks with a very sweet flavour. It is excellent for making pies, preserves or even wine. Stalks ripen and are ready for cutting in late spring to early summer. More compact than some of the older varieties. Rhubarb is best grown in full sun and will tolerate a wide variety of soils. Rhubarb can be used as an ornamental in your perennial bed. HEIGHT: 60-70cm SPREAD: 60-80 cm
NOTE: We also offer an ornamental rhubarb in the perennials section -- Rheum palmatum 'Tanguticum'. This ornamental variety however is not edible and could be toxic if consumed. Take care not to confuse the two varieties.
