This native plant can be grown almost anywhere in Canada. It is exceptionally hardy. It is an erect shrub with dark green foliage. New shoots when they emerge are white and woolly eventually turning glossy red-brown. Attractive, large, rosy-pink catkins in the spring. Easily grown in moist, marshy soil but also tolerant of drier conditions. Prefers full sun. Prune to desired size and shape. Height: 2 m Spread: 1.25 m
