Narrow-leaf Ironweed
Zone 4
This is a more compact version of the traditional native wildflower. It is a bushy plant with narrow, feathery leaves and produces masses of large, rosy-red, umbel-like flower heads in late summer to early fall, followed by purple seed heads. Wonderful with ornamental grasses. Easily grown in sun to part shade in ordinary garden soil. Like the taller version it is loved by butterflies. HEIGHT: 70-90 cm SPREAD: 60-70 cm
